Question

I have requested a Viva Engage Community to be created, but see the following error in the trace log, what can I do?

External requests are not allowed to use v1 group creation API, use MS Graph Engage community creation API instead!

Answer

In April 2025 there was a change in the Yammer graph related to creating Viva Engage communities. 

We have updated the API endpoint we use on 5th April 2025 to resolve the error, this will require you to:

  1. Reconsent to get the updated permissions for the Microsoft Graph permission allowing the app permission to create Communities. A Global Admin will be required to do this
    Reconsent the ProvisionPoint
  2. Replay your request in the Job Queue
